Breaking the financial stress ‘Negative Thought Spiral’

Breaking the financial stress ‘Negative Thought Spiral’

One of the most debilitating forms of inner struggle can be the stress associated with financial worries. And, as interest rates have increased rapidly in recent times, more and more people are suffering from this.

It’s very easy to become overwhelmed when as you think about your financial problems, which can increase your anxiety enormously. As a result of feeling so anxious, it’s very easy to procrastinate and not do the things you need to do. Sometimes, these include difficult decisions that you might have to make to lessen your financial burdens.

As you will at one level be aware that you are procrastinating and putting off difficult decisions, your self-belief might suffer making it even harder to deal with the difficult situation that you are faced with.

Each of these emotions, stress, overwhelm, anxiety, procrastination, self-doubt affects each of the other emotions and so it can become a never-ending spiral downwards of negative and painful thought and emotions.

At times like this, it can be very important to be able to interrupt this negative pattern in some way, so that you are in less pain and are able to make the possibly difficult decisions that you need to make.

One way to do this temporarily is to utilise the mind-body connection. This can be powerful in the short term, because these inner struggles are not only felt in our minds: they are also experienced in our bodies.

So, by relieving some of the tension in our bodies, we can also relieve some of the pain in our minds.

One very simple way of doing this is to do something physical. My favourite solution is to go for a run. I have been a long distance runner for many decades, which has helped me through many painful experiences.

But of course, many people can’t or don’t run so they should consider other things such as walking, skipping, dancing, yoga or it may be just doing some simple stretching.

While this won’t solve your financial problems immediately, it will put you in a better position to address them.

I am an expert on helping people deal with the stress associated with financial problems and I have many things that I can suggest that could help you if you are feeling pulled down by financial issues. So, if this of interest to you, connect with me and we can have a nice friendly chat about ways in which I might be able to help you.
