Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow

Have you ever caught yourself worrying so much about the future that you forget to enjoy the present? I know I have. Sometimes it feels like we’re so preoccupied with what’s to come that we forget to appreciate what we have right now.

That’s what this quote is all about: worrying doesn’t actually change the outcome of tomorrow, but it does drain us of the energy we need to make the most of today. It’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of anxiety and fear about what’s to come, but it’s important to remember that we can’t control everything.

Of course, there are things we can do to prepare for the future and make sure we’re setting ourselves up for success. But we also need to recognize that worrying excessively won’t actually make things better. Instead, it will leave us feeling drained and exhausted.

So, how can we break the cycle of worry and anxiety? Here are a few tips:

• Practice mindfulness. Focus on the present moment and try to let go of worries about the future.

• Make a plan. If there’s something specific you’re worried about, make a plan to address it. Taking action can help alleviate anxiety.
• Talk to someone. Sometimes, simply talking through our worries with a trusted friend or family member can help us gain perspective.
• Take care of yourself. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, exercise, and healthy food. When we’re physically well, we’re better equipped to handle stress and anxiety.
Of course, there is more that we can do, and I discuss this in my free on-demand masterclasss “The Ultimate Guide to Overcoming Your Inner Struggles”, which you can watch straight away.
