Is a mental ‘box’ limiting your solutions to personal problems?

Is a mental ‘box’ limiting your solutions to personal problems

You know the feeling—grappling with a problem and cycling through the same thoughts, unable to find a way out. Imagine this issue confined within a crudely drawn square or box, labelled ‘Problem Space.’ Here you are, pacing back and forth, unable to see beyond these four walls.

What you may not realize is that there’s a vast area outside this box—the ‘Solution Space.’ But when your thinking is boxed in, you hardly ever step out to explore it. Ever wonder why?

Much of it stems from unconscious beliefs and mental programs you’ve adopted at a very young age. These beliefs become the framework of your Problem Space. You might believe you’re not good enough to find a solution, or perhaps you’ve convinced yourself that failure is your destiny. These unconscious scripts limit your thinking, not allowing you to perceive the answers lying just outside the box.

Here’s the catch: your mind operates on these limiting beliefs automatically, without you even realizing it. You may think you’re doing your best to solve a problem, but these deep-seated convictions act as barriers, preventing you from stepping into the Solution Space. It’s as if you’re wearing blinders that restrict your vision, making you oblivious to the wealth of solutions available to you.

Another factor confining you to the Problem Space is emotional baggage. Fear of the unknown, past traumas, or even parental conditioning can hamper your problem-solving abilities. Your emotions influence your thoughts, and when these feelings are negative, they further constrict your thinking.

So, how can you step out of this mental box? Awareness is the first step. Recognizing that you have these unconscious beliefs and emotional barriers allows you to challenge them. Reflect, ask questions, and don’t hesitate to seek external viewpoints. Working with a mindset coach can help here. Sometimes, seeing the problem through another lens can provide the shift needed to move into the Solution Space.

The next time you find yourself circling in the Problem Space, remember: your thinking doesn’t have to be limited. Take down those mental walls and give yourself the freedom to explore the endless possibilities that lie beyond. After all, the solution may not be in the confined space where you’ve been looking but in the expansive realm you’ve yet to explore.

If you want some help breaking through the walls of your imaginary mental box, let’s have a chat. There is every possibility that I can help you quickly break them down,in only a session or two, freeing you from these issues for ever.
